Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, at Lynn Massachusetts. The actress is the eldest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When her father passed away as a carnival barker, at the age of a young girl, she had to help support the family working both as a maid and server. Ruth was born in the poorest neighborhood in Boston Massachusetts where she enrolled in school. She left school after two short years to pursue acting. She faced many obstacles on her chosen career path. Then, in New York she was hired to take photos in a crime magazine and drama, however no theater opportunities were offered. While in New York, she worked at a bar, as the check-in lady before resigning after a few months and moving to Boston. There, she made the ends meet by working by working as an usher throughout the day, and at night performing in the New England Repertory Company, her first regular acting gig. Her studies in drama led her to earn her degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
